Moulding workshop of the Museum of Comparative Sculpture (1882-1928) Cavalier Rampin (head) Patinated plaster H. 43 cm W. 21 cm D. 20 cm Based on the original work in the Musée du Louvre (Paris), discovered in Athens on the Acropolis, dated circa 560-540 and bearing the smile typical of Archaic Greek production. While the head is in the Louvre, the body and horse are in the Acropolis Museum in Athens. It was immediately discovered and purchased by Georges Rampin, who donated it to the Louvre in 1896.
