ATELIERS de CERAMIQUE de SEVRES (Jean MAZEAUD and Jean FAVEROT). Ceramic bowl on foot circa 1940-1950, decorated with gold projections on a celadon blue background. Below, green enamelled signature "Les ateliers de céramique MF Sèvres made in France". . Born in 1909, Jean Mazeaud studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris from 1932 to 1935. A model-maker at the Manufacture de Sèvres, he met Jean Faverot, a plaster-molder at the same factory. They resigned in 1946 and joined forces to create Les Ateliers de Céramique de Sèvres. They invented their own style, creating the technique of gold projection on their ceramic pieces with their characteristic design of the 40s and 50s. The workshop lasted about fifteen years.
