Description
Jean Jacques Caffieri (workshop of) White marble river deity, height 64 cm from the original kept in the Louvre in Paris. Inscribed on the base: par M.r Caffieri 1759. Jean Jacques Caffieri is known for his portrait busts in terracotta and marble: the busts of Pierre Corneille and Jean Racine for the foyer of the "Comédie Française" and the bust of Madame du Barry at Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.
