Italian coins VENICE Paolo Renier (1779-1789) 1784 gold 10 zecchini thaler - Mont. lacks AU (g 34.91) RRRR Light scratches professionally removed. We found no matches in the literature or numismatic portals for this exceptional thaler weighing 10 ticks. The CNI mentions a 15 tick multiple of the 1785 thaler and a 12 tick multiple of the 1787 thaler. So not only would the 1784 multiple not be known but neither would this weight. It would be of great interest to know the history of these multiples and how they were conceived in the mint because the dogate of Paolo Renier of whom multiples are known for many of his nominals is particularly rich. - SPL
