A. R. Penck (Ralf Winkler) (1939 Dresden - 2017 Zurich) Untitled (egg) White glazed and polychrome painted faience with horse motif. Created in 1993 in the Droysen Ceramics Gallery and workshop of Kattrin Kühn in Berlin, created by Penck himself as a unique object. Signed "A. Penck" (scratched into the paint before firing). H. 15 cm. Kattrin Kühn's Droysen workshop has been working with visual artists such as Penck, Helge Leiberg, Cornelia Schleime and Elvira Bach since 1986. There, Penck explored the artistic possibilities of the ceramic painting technique on faience, which was still changing during the firing process, and applied his motifs to plates, vases, tea sets and objects; in 1992/93 he created a series of eggs. A unique polychrome painted faience egg by A. R. Penck created in 1993. Signed.
