Large, elegant baroque tankard from the former estate of the noble von Flotow family Silver. Almost cylindrical, slender body over a bulging, profiled, domed base ring. Corresponding stepped hinged lid. Wide, ear-shaped handle with baluster pommel as thumb rest. The lid centrally decorated with a finely engraved alliance coat of arms of the Mecklenburg noble families von Negendank and von Reventlow, monogr. with "P.N." and "E.R." above. Above, a plaque screw-fastened to the lid with the coat of arms of the noble von Flotow family. Inside the lid a counter disk with the inscription "Anno 1838 came this drinking set, by the death, of Major, Georg, Friedrich, Diederich, Philipp von Flotow, auf Wahlow, Zislow, etc, died in Strietfelde, to August, Adam, Philipp, Matthias von Flotow, auf Woldzegarden und Jürgerthal. It is an old family piece.". Gilt interior. Marked by the mark of the master Markus Jeger (active from 1633). Weight approx. 900 g. H. 20.5 cm. The screw plaque and the engraved coats of arms trace the passing down of the hump within the family. The alliance coat of arms engraved on the lid refers to the marriage in 1611 of Paschen v. Negendank (1585 - 1656) and Elisabeth (called Ilsabe) v. Reventlow. After the death of her husband, Elisabeth married Hartwig v. Flotow.
