Description

Baroque silver credenza plate, partially gilt. Flat, slightly hollowed plate with smooth rim and short rise. Wide rim surrounded by finely engraved scrollwork and leaf decoration over a snakeskin-like chased ground. The rim set off by a pearl band in relief and surrounded by a curved tongue frieze, alternating with stylized flower stems. Engraved with "W.A.P.D" on the underside. Marked, hallmark with elderman's letter "M", master Hans Vincent Feindt (becomes master 1716). Weight approx. 265 g. D. 26.5 cm. Cf. Schliemann, vol. II, no. 54, 359.
