Description

Baroque silver ciborium, partly gilt. Domed stand over a broad, flared and profiled base ring, decorated all around in a single row with chased cherub heads alternating with voluted acanthus leaves and volutes. Trumpet-shaped shaft base merging into a short baluster shaft, divided in the middle by a stepped, rounded nodus. Pressed, bulbous, spherical bowl with plug-in lid. Central finial in the shape of a cross. Corresponding lid and nodus set with a single row of miniature cherub heads in relief. Gilt interior. Marked, tremolier line, inspection mark of the Neustadt, master Johann Gottfried Pick (became master in 1741), Prussian tax stamp since 1809. Weight approx. 385 g. H. 23.8 cm. Cf.
