Description

Extremely rare, large baroque silver box with residual gilding. Slightly domed, oval stand, merging into a smooth body rising in steps. Slightly domed plug-in lid, crowned in the center by a vase-shaped baluster finial, decorated with a pearl frieze and short fluting. The wall surrounded by a wide band of fine scrollwork, fruit bundles, shellwork and acanthus leaves in relief. The long and short sides accentuated by cherubs over a delicately chased ground. The lid correspondingly decorated with a broad band of acanthus leaves and scrollwork, the long sides with oval cartouches in the center, the short sides decorated with large shell motifs. Marked, tremolier stroke, inscription, Johann Daniel Albrecht (active from ca. 1736). Weight approx. 400 g. H. 15 cm. 17.3 cm x 13.3 cm. Cf. Rosenberg, vol. II, no. 2169, 2170.
