George III sauciere in sterling silver. Supported by three hoof-like feet with a shell-shaped base, the bulbous, boat-shaped body with a profiled rim surrounded by a pearl band. Smooth wall decorated with lavish, heavily relief-painted decoration of volutes, rocailles, C-sweeps and flowers. High, tapering spout. A free oval medallion below the raised spout. Volute ear handle. Remainder; shape, foam marks, master Matthew West (active from 1765), year letter "P". Weight approx. 270 g. H. 12,5 cm. 19 cm x 10 cm. An Irish George III silver sauce boat by Matthew West (active since 1765). Restored. Assay mark and master's mark. Date letter "P". Ireland. Dublin. 1811.
