Pair of large silver Empire menages. An elliptical plinth above four paw feet. Two small spice bowls set into it and two cylindrical holders for glass inserts, consisting of three wide struts, decorated with dolphins, palmettes and Bacchus heads in relief in a round medallion. Central, tall column shaft above a square base in full relief depicting a Bacchus boy ending in a high ascending vine tendril. Glass inserts missing. Marked, mark of inspection, master Jaques-Gabriel-André Bompart (active since 1789). Total weight approx. 2035 g. H. 34 cm. 24 cm x 13 cm. Cf. Beuque, no. 2776; Rosenberg, vol.
