Large, rare lidded vase from the faience manufactory in Kassel Elongated oval shape with an octagonal cross-section, ribbed foot and shoulder area and neck, the corners accentuated by ridges. Bell-shaped, octagonal, correspondingly ribbed lid with large knob. Decor in cobalt blue fire painting. Alternating Chinese figures and flower stems on the body, the ribbed sections and the lid with stylized Chinese ornaments. Lip rim with two glued small chips. Manufactory mark "HL" in ligature for "Hessen-Land" (or "Hessenland"). H. 54.5 cm. A large rare German Kassel blue and white faience vase and cover with Chinese figures.
