The wall, lid and underside decorated with relief rocaille cartouches with fine floral bouquets in purple scale mosaic. The inner lid with a full-surface, scenic depiction of a courtly couple playing a mandolin and sheet music in a tree-lined landscape. The wide background with mountain backdrop and river course. Polychrome painting. Floral relief, internally wavy and gilt copper mount with slightly raised thumb grip. Minor wear/rest; h. 5 cm. 9 cm x 7 cm.
