Knötel. Military-themed puzzle game. Three chromolithographed boards glued to wood and cut into jigsaw puzzles. One is dedicated to the Russian army, one to the French army, and one to the Belgian and Dutch armies.

Chromolithography on the lid: fifteen scenes from Roman history; gilded, embossed frame. The box contains three puzzle boards, size 31.5 x 36 cm. Roman history puzzle. Each of the three boards, glued to wood and cut into jigsaw pieces, is illustrated on the same principle as the lithograph on the lid: fifteen scenes from Roman history in five horizontal rows, each with a caption and a number. The cover plate is not reproduced as a puzzle. These sixty images were used by Poulain chocolate to create advertising cards, chromolithographed and embossed: six series of ten subjects.

(La Poste in the world) (The Post Office in the world). (France, circa 1910). Wood and cardboard box, size 31.5 x 24 x 4.5 cm. Chromolithography on the lid. The box contains three chromolithographed boards, glued to wood and cut into jigsaw puzzles. French puzzle game with a postal theme. The four boards (lid + three puzzles) each feature ten vignettes evoking the post office in 40 countries around the world. Each vignette features a color image of the local letter carrier in action; in the top right-hand corner is the country's flag, in the bottom left-hand corner a stamp. These vignettes were also used as advertising media (cards with captions and advertising on the reverse) by Cacao Poulain. Mute end of a restored piece.
