Bernard BOUTET DE MONVEL, Set of 11 early drawings on paper/cardboard, circa 1893. [11 documents - various sizes, max. 23.5 x 20 cm] Set of 11 youthful drawings made around 1893-1894, when he was 11-12 years old. These drawings are studies of characters from his early literary reading. They include lackeys, a man playing the bard, musketeers on horseback or sparring, an inspired young boy at a table dreaming of horses and, finally, a watercolor drawing on cardboard of a military man with a bicorne on horseback. These were among his first artistic exercises. Some drawings are signed and/or dated, with handwritten references. (Lot sold as is)
