Description

This is a fine example of a British 1786 pattern infantry officer's sword. The first quarter of the straight blade is blued, and bears gilded decorative engravings. There is an unknown script on either side of the blade that could be purely decorative. The hilt is primarily of brass, with a straight knucklebow and a pillow shaped pommel. The handle is of bone with vertical carved reeding. Dimensions: L: 39 in. (99.06 cm.); Very good, with some minor pitting on the blade and hilt.
