Description

A single-edge curved pointy blade is made of wootz steel decorated with a gold cartouch at the forte. The child is of a characteristic form embellished with gold inlay. The sheath is made of wood covered in the original red velvet (worn) and fitted with gilt-bronze open work mounts. The blade is earlier than the munts. Qajar Period, 19th century. Dimensions: L: 38 1/2 in., (100 cm.) The sword appears to be in good condition overall, the scabbard velvet has faded and shows signs of expected wear and age. The gilding is well-preserved.
