Bound in full red morocco, with smooth spine decorated with Cupid's attributes (quiver and heart pierced by an arrow) and red morocco title page. Triple framing of gilded fillets and angular floral motifs, stamped in the center with the laurel wreath, Phrygian bonnet and lictor beam. Fully gilt edges, marbled paper endpapers and flyleaves. Pencil storage also at edge. Excellent condition. Complete with engraved title-frontispiece and 12 delightful engravings. It is rare to see such fine copies, and the illustrations in this book from the revolutionary period are particularly meticulous. Some of the blank pages have been annotated in pencil.
