"Alfred de MUSSET - The opium-eating Englishman Chez Mame et Delaunay-Vallée à Paris, 1828 - A very fine copy of this extremely rare first edition of the author's first text, a work that already heralds the genius of the author of "Les Nuits". Very fine late 19th-century binding by Chambolle-Duru in full blue morocco, quadruple framed in gilded fillets on the boards, 5-rib spine and boxes decorated with double and triple gilded fillets, title, place and date in gilded letters, gilded edges, repeated fillets on the edges. Borders in the same morocco with gilt quintuple fillets and marbled paper endpapers. Slight cracks to first spine, not serious, a very fine copy nonetheless, inside particularly well preserved and free of foxing. In-8, 221pp. Provenance: Unidentified bookplate with the monogram AS or SA".
