"to a painter (December 17, 1855) to whom he refused permission to paint his portrait: "Scheffer, I must say, stole my portrait [...] I would have liked the public not to know my ugly old face, not out of self-love, but because nothing has ever displeased me as much as being recognized in public places". Enclosed is an autograph manuscript of a song L'Abbesse d'un couvent comme il y a encore beaucoup (6 pages in-8).
