CARL WILHELM VON HEIDECK_x001D_ Saaralben/Lothr. 1788 - 1861 Munich View from the ruins of the Temple of Diana near Bajae on the Gulf of Pozzuoli to the fortress of Don Pedro de Toledo. Pencil drawing with framing line in pen and ink 1820. Inscribed "a Baja 5 Luglio 20. Tempel der Diana." at lower left. On chamois-colored wove paper, mounted on light laid card. 21.6 x 27.8 cm. Slightly unfresh. The artist, who came from a family of officers, took part in several military campaigns, during which he recorded cities and landscapes, among other things, in drawings and sketches, both as a war artist and on his later travels.
