CIRCULAR DISH Molded rim. In the center of the bowl, an engraved sketch of a circle with, at its center, a reserved disk with an intaglio embossing representing a four-petal rosette. Low foot molded by a lower circular band. Hollow interior with a black band surrounding a reserved area of a black circle surrounding a central reserved disk and engraved with a cross (trademark?). Fine, hard buff-pink terracotta, black glaze with brownish highlights. Campania, Italy. 2nd - 1st century B.C. Diameter. 16.5 cm. PROVENANCE. Aldo Bianchi Collection, ancestor of the collector, 19th century.
