NECK FRAGMENT FROM A LARGE BLACK-FIGURED SCROLLED CRATER. The first register depicts the goddess Athena on a throne watching the battle between Heracles and the giant Antaeus, as well as Dionysus and a maenad. The second frieze depicts a warrior pursuing horsemen. Black-glazed orange clay with red and white paint highlights. Greek art, Attica, c. 500 B.C. Attributed to the Golvol Group. Height. 14.5 cm; Width. 40 cm. Visible cracks and breaks. PROVENANCE. Probably Fonds Ratton, Paris. 19th c. label inscribed in pen: "Wolfram in Montennis (?)Allier-2098". An export certificate for cultural property dated December 22, 2023 will be issued to the buyer.
