Gouache on canvas, probably Cambodia 20th century Approx. 185 x 103 cm. The upper part shows Buddha sitting under the Bodhi tree with Abhaya Mudra - the "Fear not" gesture and Vitarka Mudra - the gesture of discussion, surrounded by many listeners. In the lower part, Buddha and other monks are shown doing binthabat - almsround. Similar to the Tibetan thangka. - Traces of creasing, tls. - at the bottom stronger - scuffed with loss of color and probably text, bottom with tear in the fabric. R
