In French to the Russian State Councillor and Consul General Baron von Kiel in Leipzig. Asks for support against the publisher and bookseller Barth for the return of his manuscript and the settlement of his sold books since October 1839. - Gulianov made a significant contribution to the decipherment of hieroglyphics. "Gulianoff's discoveries destroy Champollion, and everything read by him apart from the Cartouche will be pilloried as lies and fables" (Julius Klapproth in a letter of Feb. 11, 1827 to P.
