Description

Strauch,M.v. My expressionist Berlin. 8 erotica from Berlin salons. Berlin 1924 (= around 1990). 4°. Title sheet and 8 sheets original ink drawings on light darkened cardboard, each monogr. and dat. 1924 (= c. 1990). Loose sheets, inserted in transparent sleeves. The works were created based on the 1920s, probably around 1980-90. Max von Strauch is a pseudonym for an "artist behind whom the painter and graphic artist Hartmut von Altrock (1931-2014) may be concealed. His drawings were created in Berlin in the 1920s, but were only created and published by him in small numbers in Berlin in the 1980s/90s. The paper was artificially trimmed to look old, while the depictions are reminiscent of Expressionism or New Objectivity, but are also stylistically close to the erotic comics of the 1980-90s" (123art).
