Curious Riding=Hunting=Fencing=Dancing=or Knights=Exercises=Lexicon, wherein the gallant knightly exercises are sufficiently explained as to their advantages, benefits and necessities, together with all the terms of art occurring in them, but in particular the horse species, characteristics, shape, defects and infirmities, together with their well-proven remedies, their reproduction, education, and artificial training, also everything belonging to the Reuterey; Furthermore, the high and low hunting economy, the complete hunting equipment, the characteristics of small and large dogs, as well as various animals and birds; the forestry nature; then the true foundation of the art of fencing with the foil as well as the sword; vaulting on horseback; likewise the low chamber and high theatrical dances, and the musical science inseparably connected with the art of dancing; the ball= and balloon=striking; the old as well as still common knightly serious= and pleasure=games; to which is also added the art of heraldry, as a science peculiar and indispensable to the nobility. All in alphabetical order and arranged in such a way that young gentlemen of nobility are instructed how they can put themselves in a position to one day make perfect courtiers, good soldiers and skillful landlords through a pleasing performance. The most famous lexicon of its kind at that time, informing the gentleman-to-be comprehensively far beyond the topics indicated in the title. - The beautiful frontispiece shows all the knightly arts mentioned in the title in a theatrical manner. - Some browning throughout, beginning waterstained. Inner hinges partly brittle. Small wax seal and inscription on title page. Marginal chips.
