An Anglican pastor and scientist, John Theophilus Desaguliers (born Jean Théophile Désaguliers in 1683 in La Rochelle and died in 1744 in London) was one of the founders of modern Freemasonry, as well as an ardent defender and propagator of Isaac Newton's scientific, philosophical and political ideas.
