1870 agricultural prize silver cup Important Charles Christofle (1805 - 1863), Eugène Capy (1829 - 1894) and Pierre Rouillard (1820 - 1881) agricultural prize cup. Important silver bowl with stamped decoration of four scenes of field work with captions (grazing, harvest, grape harvest, plowing). Inscribed on the rim "Ministère de l'Agriculture et du Commerce MDCCLXX. A rare example of the agricultural award created by Charles Christofle and first presented at the 1862 London World's Fair. After this date, Charles Christofle's goldsmith workshops produced a cup for each competition city each year. (Rennes in 1863, Epinal in 1864, Caen in 1876, Chartres in 1877... etc.). Our example is that of Limoges in 1870. Minerve hallmarks. Metal inner stem. H. Height : 65 cm Diameter : 39 cm. Total weight: 8.8 kg. (Wear, missing).
