Partly original edition (between the 1921 orig., awarded the Prix Goncourt, and the definitive 1938 ed.) richly illustrated (6 etchings out of text and numerous compositions in the text) by the Russian-born "colonial" painter Iacovleff, who took part in Citroën's Croisière noire in 1927.
