Lot of 6 printed Simchat Torah flags, Jerusalem, Eretz Israel, late 19th century - early 20th century. Adorned with lions and Torah crowns, views of holy sites, images of Moses and Aaron, with "Lamnatzeach" Menorahs (Menorah-shaped representations of the Hebrew text of the "Psalm of the Menorah, " Psalms 67, more familiarly associated with "Shiviti" plaques), Stars of David; with the Tablets of the Law, the four creatures designated as exemplary metaphors by Rabbi Judah ben Tema in the Mishnaic "Ethics of the Fathers": "Be bold as a leopard…"; with (mostly) biblical verses relevant to the holiday ("Standard of the Camp of Judah", "For out of Zion shall go forth the Torah", "Give honor to the Torah" [liturgical passage], "Ascribe greatness to our God" "And you shall rejoice in your holiday". Four of the flags are printed on color paper in gold or silver ink. Various sizes and conditions, flaws.
