"Bestiary of St. Petersburg". Facsimile edition, issue 637/995. Barcelona 2002. Accompanied by a study book. Accompanied by notarial deed. Measurements: 21 x 15 x 3,5 cm. Facsimile edition of the "Bestiary of St. Petersbrugo" whose original is kept in the Russian National Library in St. Petersburg (Russia) and dates from the 12th century. According to the study book "The codex comprises 114 miniatures drawn on a gilt background, representing passages from natural history. The illustrated Latin bestiary can be catalogued as one of the oldest and most valuable of the series of those that have been preserved and are among the collections existing in the world today. Since its appearance in the "Manuscript Section" of the Imperial Public Library of Russia, the St. Petersburg bestiary has been constantly attracting the interest of researchers. With this work we can admire the Bestiary in the National Library of Russia, considered as a beautifully illustrated encyclopedia, where we find all the knowledge about the animal world, its symbolism and moralization in the Middle Ages".
