Description

1 bottle of Pintia de Vega Sicilia, 2006. Magnum (1,5 L). Toro. Spain. Red wine. 1,5 L. In its original wooden box. Opened for inspection. Level A. See pictures to check the condition of the label. Provenance: Private collection. The current owner acquired it directly from Vega Sicilia at the time it was marketed. Stored in private cellar with controlled temperature and humidity. Pintia is the Toro winery of the Álvarez family, owners of Vega Sicilia, in which they only make one wine, Pintia, with which they have managed to become a reference of quality and elegance in the Toro area. Its proximity to the Duero River results in a complex clay soil. The vineyard is divided into several plots established in an area of 96 hectares, at an altitude of 700 metres. The soils are covered with sand which facilitates water infiltration. Some plots are planted on quite deep soils with very rocky surfaces. The continental climate is extreme, with hot, arid summers followed by very cold winters. These conditions favour an exceptional state of health of the grapes and a great taste quality of the berries. Magnum formats are highly appreciated by wine connoisseurs, collectors and wine lovers. They are formats that are quite rare as wineries apply strict criteria when bottling in larger sizes due to increased costs. Therefore, magnums or larger sizes are much more difficult to find. In addition, one of the factors that make them more sought after is their greater ageing capacity, since, in larger bottles, the proportion of wine exposed to the air in the bottle is greater and therefore ageing is slower, giving the wine a longer, more complete and complex evolution. Thus, a Magnum will always achieve a higher auction price than two 75 cl. bottles. **The images in each lot are the actual images of the object and are therefore part of the cataloging. Thus, the buyer accepts that the condition of the wines is shown in the images and/or in the cataloging, and that the content and fragility of the cork and the seal are not the responsibility of Setdart Auctions.
