During a visit to NANTES and SAINT-NAZAIRE, President Auriol sailed down part of the Loire on the "Saint-Christophe" ferry, escorted by avisos from the Naval School. He then visited the shipyard where the liner "Île-de-France" was being rebuilt (see below). - Menu served on board a train on June 12, 1949, in-8 card with emblem of Compagnie des Wagons-lits. - Menu for the dinner offered by the City Council on the occasion of the presentation of the Cross of the Legion of Honor and the Cross of War to the city of Rouen, July 17, 1949, 4 pp. in color illustrated cover featuring Rouen Cathedral and the medals of the aforementioned orders, menu and wine list, red cord. - Menu for the luncheon offered on the occasion of the inauguration of the PAQUEBOT "ÎLE-DE-FRANCE" by M. le Président de la République, July 18, 1949 [at LE HAVRE], 4 pp. in-12, cover illustrated with the arms of Île-de-France. The Île-de-France was built in 1927 by the Chantiers de Penhoët in Saint-Nazaire for the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique. Requisitioned by the British in November 1940, she was used to transport troops during the Second World War. After extensive refurbishment, she returned to civilian service in 1949.
