KING GEORGE VI KING GEORGE VI - Set of 6 menus and 1 program relating to the visit of KING GEORGE VI and QUEEN ELISABETH to France in July 1938 and that of President Albert LEBRUN to the United Kingdom in March 1939. - Menu for the dinner offered to the British sovereigns on July 19, 1938 at the Palais de l'Élysée, 4 pp. in-4 under a BEAUTIFUL COUV. illustrated by P. DEMET featuring in a frame with initials RF, a view of the Élysée from the gardens with British and French flags, royal arms and date in a gilded cartouche, inside: republican emblem and presidential monogram, program opposite the menu, engraved by Stern. Enclosed: a blank invitation card and 2 proofs of the menu, one with handwritten annotation "d'après le cuivre - non arriéré", the date (June 28, 1938) and a plate differing from the final version. - Menu for the luncheon offered to the British sovereigns on July 21, 1938 at the Château de VERSAILLES, bound in a pink f. (25 x 20.5 cm) decorated on the spine with the Versailles coat of arms, 4 pp. large in-8 under cover decorated with an engraving monogrammed L, inside: Chamber music and Menu with wine list, menu laminated on card stock.
