Description

BRIAND-KELLOGG PACT PACTE BRIAND-KELLOGG - Menu du dîner offert à l'occasion de la signature du Pacte général de renonciation à la guerre, August 27, 1928, 4 pp. in-8, cover illustrated with a bistre view of the Palais des Affaires étrangères, inside: monogram of Aristide BRIAND, Minister of Foreign Affairs, program opposite the menu, engraved by Maquet, held in place by a gold cord. On August 27, 1928 in Paris, 15 powers, including France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and Japan, solemnly signed the pact of general renunciation of war. In all, 63 countries shared this commitment, initiated by Aristide Briand, French Foreign Minister, and Franck Kellogg, American Secretary of State. Although of great symbolic importance, the treaty was limited in scope, as there were no sanctions in the event of a breach. Attached is the menu for the luncheon offered by Aristide BRIAND, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to Myron Timothy HERRICK, U.S. Ambassador to France, on February 6, 1928 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the signing of a Franco-American treaty, 150 years after the first alliance pact between the two countries, 4 pp. in-12, cover illustrated with the Republican emblem in white on a blue background within a gilded crown, monogram of Aristide Briand inside, table plan enclosed.
