Rare. - History - Christmas pantomime performances at Windsor Castle were staged between 1941 and 1944, the first being Cinderella , in which the lead role was played by the two princesses. The performances took place in the Waterloo Room. The shows were written and directed by the principal of Windsor Great Park Royal School. The extras included local children, refugees and friends of the princesses, sometimes even staff from the Windsor estate. The shows were always well attended, and all the money raised by the purchase of tickets was donated to the Wool Fund, so that the armed forces could benefit from warm woollen equipment.
