EXCEPTIONAL flat-back, molded wood, white lacquered, rechambered and gilded LIVING ROOM FURNITURE. It is composed of a suite of four armchairs and six chairs with flat, square backs and top cantilevered rails. The armchairs with straight lotus-flower armrests rest on straight Roman sword-shaped uprights with saber-shaped legs. Double console legs. (restoration, overhaul and refurbishment) Blue silk upholstery with gold laurel wreath fillet. House of LELIERRE. Late Empire period Armchair : 101 x 54 x 54 cm Chair : 94 x 48 x 44 cm Attributable to JACOB Frères: Georges JACOB I and François Honoré JACOB-DESMALTER. Provenance: former collection of Château DUHAZÉ de Flers Our living-room set is typical of JACOB Frères production for official commissions. A gondola armchair very similar to our chairs can be found in the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, made by JACOB Père et Fils for the Château des Tuileries.
