A GOLD MOCHE OF A FELINE HEAD WITH SHELL & STONE INLAY, LOMA NEGRA, VICUS-MOCHE, CIRCA 200-500 A.D. H. 7.5 cm, 9,0 cm Catalogue note: These objects “beads” were part of an large necklace, you can see small holes on both sides, vertically above each other on the back side for attachment. Made from a allow of low gold, low silver and copper, with shell and stone inlay. These "beads" were left in graves of high priests in the pre-columbian cultures of the west coast of Peru. Vicus-Moche culture, ca 200 AD. Provenance details: Private collection A. J. Grant, NYC, acquired 1950’s-1960’s, thence by decent. With D. Cole Gallery, during the 1960`s and 1970`s with a gallery in San Francisco. Private collection Spain, 2070`s to 2015. Acquired European art market, ca. 2015 to 2017.
