A GOLD & SILVER MOCHE FIGURE OF A STANDING WARRIOR IN PROFILE, LOMA NEGRA, VICUS-MOCHE, CIRCA 200-500A.D. 60cm x 55cm Catalogue note: Made from a allow of low gold, low silver and copper, with shell and stone inlay. These warrior in “profile position” placed in graves of high priests in the pre-columbian cultures of the west coast of Peru. Vicus-Moche culture, ca 200 AD. Provenance: Private collection A. J. Grant, NYC, acquired 1950’s-1960’s, thence by decent. With D. Cole Gallery, during the 1960`s and 1970`s with a gallery in San Francisco. Private collection Spain, 1970`s to 2015.
