Two register icon. Second half of the 19th century. On the upper register, the Deisis. The lower register is hollowed out to accommodate a bronze triptych with, on the central panel, Saint Nicholas the Thaumaturgist surrounded by Christ on the left and the Virgin Mary on the right. The central panel is topped by a bulb with Christ the King of Kings in the clouds. The left panel shows the Entry into Jerusalem and the Presentation in the Temple, while the right panel depicts the Resurrection and Ascension. Both panels are surmounted by two half-bulbs depicting the Annunciation, with the Archangel Gabriel on the left and the Virgin Mary on the right. 29 x 22.5cm The back bears a handwritten label mentioning a sale at Drouot on March 30, 1996, with Jean Roudillon as expert, and a clipping from the related catalog.
