Antoine CRONIER (1732-1806) IN PARIS LARGE DESK REGULATOR in chased gilt bronze, decorated with foliate friezes and stripes of pearls, the glass case, the enamelled circular dial signed with Arabic and Roman numerals, the movement numbered 10886. It stands on four toupie feet. Louis XVI period. Height : 55.5 cm ; Width : 28.5 cm (slight accidents) Provenance : Charles de Beistegui, Sotheby's Paris, Poulain - Le Fur, Château de Groussay, June 2, 1999, shown under lot 397. Antoine Crosnier, son of carpenter Charles Crosnier, became a master clockmaker in 1763, established in the rue Saint-Honoré. He is well known for having completed commissions for the Maréchal de Choiseul-Stainville, the Marquis de Sainte-Amaranthe, Prince Belosselsky-Belozerky and the Duc des Deux-Ponts.
