Jean ROYERE (1902-1981)

Sofa Boule called Polar Bear, circa 1952. Beech frame, banana back and seat cushion, entirely covered in red mohair velvet. It stands on five slightly recessed cylindrical oak legs. H.: 78 cm; W.: 230 cm; D.: 130 cm. Each leg, originally fixed by two dowels, bears a pencil annotation on the inside indicating its position (visible after dismantling). Stains and wear on the velvet, scratches and scuffs on the legs, jute straps changed. The trunnions having broken, each foot has been drilled at 2 points and screws affixed.
