Nicolas LANCRET (1690-1743) The hurdy-gurdy player. Oil on canvas. 94 x 74 cm. Some spotting in the background. Beautiful Regency-style frame in carved wood and gilded openwork stucco with foliate scrolls. On the reverse, two customs stamps, one on the frame, the other on the canvas. Provenance: Former collection of Baron Maurice de Rothschild, Paris. Tajan, Paris, December 14, 2006, lot 32; expert cabinet Turquin, (reproduced in color).
