The body is covered with an engraved spiral motif, typical of the Dong Son culture. There is a circular opening on the back. The Dong Son culture's sphere of influence is vast, stretching from northern Vietnam to neighboring Southeast Asia and the southern Chinese province of Guangxi. These cultures produced small zoomorphic sculptures depicting familiar animals. The decorative spiral motif is common to all these cultures.
