Modern Literature and Art Art Déco Collection of over 700 original drawings for Bohemian glass manufacturers. Including Haidau and Steinschönau (today's Czech Republic), early 20th century. Various techniques: predominantly pencil and pen, mostly on tracing paper, partly watercolored or gouached, occasionally with gold or silver highlights. Sheet dimensions from approx. 5 x 5 cm to 50 x 35 cm. Extremely interesting evidence of Bohemian glass art from the early 20th century, both from an artistic and historical point of view. The collection covers a wide range of objects, including vases, glasses, flasks, bowls and carafes in a wide variety of styles. Art Nouveau and Art Deco designs predominate, ranging from curved, floral motifs to strictly geometric compositions. - Bohemian glassmaking has been the measure of all things since the late Baroque period. In the Venetian town of Murano, attempts were made to imitate Bohemian crystal art "À la façon de Bohème". Around the turn of the century, this tradition experienced a renaissance with the rise of Art Nouveau. Steinschönau is still home to one of the most renowned schools for the glassmaking trade. - Some sheets bear the signature "fecit Prestranstram, copyright reserved, Dec. 1926, copie" or the stamps "W. Kulka, Glasraffinerie Haida" or "Brüder Jílek" (Steinschönau). There is also a folder with 14 lithographed plates with numerous annotated designs by Franz Vetter in Steinschönau. Also contains 20 hand-colored silver gelatin prints (19.5 x 24.5 cm) with exhibits, mostly with numerous annotations. - Mostly folded several times. Due to paper and production more often with losses and traces of use. Highly interesting documentation. Art Déco - Collection of over 700 original drawings for Bohemian glass manufacturers.
