He established that organic matter obeys the same laws as mineral compounds. When analyzing a soap made from pig fat, he succeeded in discovering a large number of fatty acids. He was then able to describe the formation of soap and developed methods for studying organic chemistry by fractionation. - Largely uncut copy. Book block detached from binding.
