ALMANACH DES MUSES. 1786. Paris, Delalain, s.d. In-12, red morocco, triple gilt fillet, central coat of arms, ornate smooth spine, interior roulette, gilt edges (period binding). Almanac with engraved title and numerous fugitives, including Bérenger's Vengeance of an Elephant, De Choisy's Verses addressed to M. de Montgolfier, and Voltaire's Voyage à Berlin (Grand-Carteret, no. 377). A very fine copy in morocco with the coat of arms of the Princesse de Lamballe (1749-1792), a rare and sought-after provenance. Marie-Thérèse de Savoie-Carignan, Princesse de Lamballe, was a confidante and close friend of Queen Marie-Antoinette. Quentin-Bauchart devotes a few pages to this princess in Les Femmes bibliophiles de France, t. II, pp. 217-224, citing 6 books from her library.
