Carl Wilhelm Zimmer, blossoming orchard Slope at the edge of a forest with playing children, in the hollow a village with half-timbered houses, oil on canvas, signed lower left, dated 1926, framed in black and gold moulding in relief, canvas with small dent and minimal need of cleaning, folding dimensions 17 x 23.5 cm. Artist info: actually Wilhelm Carl August Zimmer, German landscape and genre painter. Landscape and genre painter (1853 Apolda to 1937 Reichenberg near Dresden), apprenticeship as lithographer in Weimar, studied 1871-78 at the academy of arts in Weimar under Theodor Hagen and Stanislaus Graf von Kalckreuth, worked first in Weimar, among others 1883-85 as professor for genre painting at the Weimar academy, painting stays on Rügen, from 1889 in Düsseldorf, 1893-1903 in Eisenach, from 1907 in Königsfeld in Baden, from 1910 in Buchholz-Friedewald and from 1918 in Reichenberg near Dresden, attended the exhibitions of the Berlin Academy from 1874-92 and until 1910 the great Berlin art exhibition , source: Boetticher, Thieme-Becker and Wikipedia.
