Description

Macherot/Original humoristic drawing that hasn't aged a day. Published in the album "Drôle de crise" in 1982. India ink signed. TBE+. A4 format Raymond Macherot (1924-2008) was a Belgian comic book artist. In 1964, he left "Tintin" for "Spirou", where he successively created "Chaminou", "Sibylline", "Pantoufle" and "Mirliton". Tinged with a highly personal poetry, expressing an "ecologist" state of mind avant la lettre, Raymond Macherot's work consists mainly of a sharp satire of human society. In his series featuring animals, poetry is combined with cruel realism, both in the depiction of the animal condition, governed by the quest for food, and in the painting of organized animal societies, which reproduce most of the shortcomings of modern human society.
